Structures Asset Senior Engineer / Civil Engineer - Highways

Job Title: Structures Asset Senior Engineer

Salary: £39,600 - £55,000 per annum

Location: Normanton, West Yorkshire

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours per week)

Job Summary:

• Assists the Structures Asset Lead in the management of the highway structures asset in Area 12 and acts as a client focus for this asset in Area 12
• Communication is a key part of this role including liaison with Highways England and key stakeholders
• Assist the Structures Asset & Inspection Manager to determine the structure asset inspection programme and feed this data into the integrated area programme to ensure highways structures are inspected in accordance with Highways England standards & the requirements of the AMOR
• Assist the Structures Asset & Inspection Manager in ensuring SMIS is updated (authorisation) following the completion of inspections to highway structures to Highways England standards, proactively taking measures as appropriate and Assist the Structures Asset & Inspection Manager in managing Highways England's risk requirements for the asset, such as load management, scour etc.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Degree level in Civil Engineering or equivalent, HND/HNC level in engineering or equivalent
• Good IT literacy in MS Office or equivalent
• Good understanding of all aspects of highway structures including design, assessment, construction and inspection
• Excellent knowledge of SMIS
• Excellent knowledge of bridge inspection to Highways England standards
• Effective leader able to motivate and direct others
• Directing junior staff and managing timescales in the delivery of projects
• Ability to deal effectively with clients, customers, local authorities, Police and contractors.
