Export Advisor – Client Services - (SALES)

£27-£29k OTE

Main Job Function: Operating a telephone advice line for exporters and upselling services.

Supervisory responsibilities: One co-worker

Working to targets – bonus is £500 per quarter based on targets being met.

Essential Skills / Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years working in manufacturing export or logistics.
  • Proven experience of working to sales targets and providing telephone support.
  • Effective delegation and working to tight and demanding deadlines.
  • Using online export documentation platforms.
  • Preparing export documentation.
  • Bookings freight with carriers including negotiating rates.
  • Strong knowledge of Export processes and procedures.
  • Understanding of Preferential Trade Agreements, Letters of Credit, payment methods used in international trade.
  • Ability to obtain, analyse and present information.
  • High standard of spoken and written English, excellent telephone and face to face communication skills
  • Good questioning and persuasive skills
  • Experience of working in a customer facing role using the telephone
  • Excellent  computer skills; use of MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook, databases, CRM systems
  • Success driven and confident.
  • Passion for customer service
  • Must be car owner with a full  driving licence
  • Able to work outside of office hours as and when required

Desirable Skills / Qualifications / Experience:

  • International trade related qualifications.
  • Graduate.
  • NVQ Business Administration.
  • Institute of Export Diploma.
  • BCC Authorised Signatory.
  • Supervisory /mentoring/coaching new staff.
  • Experienced PowerPoint user.
  • ECDL or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Conformity Programmes.
  • Knowledge of EU Origin Regulations.
  • Kowledge of Incoterms.
  • Knowledge of Import processes and procedures.

Main Duties/Responsibilities: 

Telephone Advice Line

  • Helping first time applicants complete Certificates of Origin, EUR1’s and ATR1 documents over the telephone and advising on general export processes and procedures.
  • Carrying out follow-up customer care calls within 48 hours of providing a service to new accounts and work to a minimum of 10 business development calls per day.
  • Completing registrations on behalf of new users applying for documents online.
  • Building rapport with callers and using questioning to upsell other services working to sales targets.
  • Responding to enquiries received over the Internet by telephone within 1 hour.
  • Handling applications for documents i.e. checking, assembling, processing, databasing and batching-up export documents until repeat business is secured.
  • Documentation processing with 100% accuracy.
  • Prepare weekly reports for the international trade director, online manager & sales executive to list new business won, repeat business, income achieved, referrals and customer care actions.
