Our Client is a leading provider of websites and online applications to professional sport. They deliver a high-availability infrastructure, supporting websites and services for large sporting events that attract over 60,000 unique visitors a minute during peak times. They intend to stay at the forefront of technology and are in the process of migrating their infrastructure to a cloud-based solution.

The Role

Working within the Platform team, the candidate will have at least one year of experience in a similar position.

You must be able to demonstrate good skills in the following areas:

  • Collaborating with other teams and stakeholders
  • Clear communication in tickets, emails, chat and calls
  • Maintaining AWS or other cloud-based services
  • ECS or other container orchestration systems
  • Maintaining and deploying LAMP stack, supporting WordPress
  • Experience of High Availability (load-balancing, clustering) setups
  • Using version control systems (svn, git)
  • An understanding of TCP/IP, LAN and WAN technologies
  • An understanding of DNS

The Team

You will be part of the team responsible for the day-to-day management of our Client's hosting, content management and internal systems platforms. Your team is responsible for:

  • Support of systems to deliver live websites and back-end CMS systems
  • Management of internal IT systems
  • Ensuring the uptime and SLAs of our production systems, which serve up to 60,000 unique visitors a minute during peaks
  • Website security
  • Handling production outages, communicating regularly, and doing root cause analysis
  • A DevOps Culture

Your team will also be working with tech such as:

  • Infrastructure-As-Code tools (Cloudformation, Terraform)
  • PHP, Python and bash scripting
  • Database management and SQL (MySQL)
  • Configuration management tools (Chef, Puppet)
  • Monitoring tools (Zabbix, CloudWatch)
  • Configuring caching and caching tools (Varnish, CDNs)

The Salary

This position offers a competitive salary dependent on experience.

Performance-related bonuses, pension and other benefits are included.

Their office hours are 9am to 5. There is occasional evening support duty and regular weekend working with time off in lieu.

You will receive a salary review in your first year.
