This new post is a significant and creative opportunity for a social worker with a background in mental health or children's services, and with a clear understanding of parental mental health in particular, to work in Bexley Children's MASH. Your role will be an essential part of the team providing specialised mental health input, contributing to holistic assessments and acting as the key liaison point between Children's Services and Adult Mental Health Services provided by Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. You will managed by a senior member of the MASH and also receive professional mental health supervision from a Senior Social Worker in the Trust.
Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is one of the best established and regarded mental health trusts in the country and was rated Good in the recent CQC inspection. Working together with the London Borough of Bexley, it has provided an integrated and responsive mental health service for many years. Bexley Care develops this tradition of partnership working further still.
This Adult Social Care funded post is part of Bexley Care, the newly formed fully integrated model of mental health services (Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust), adult social care and community health services. We recognise that collaboration between Bexley Care and Children's Services is essential in achieving both innovative and safe outcomes for parents with mental health problems and their children.
Bexley MASH is a multi-professional team that works with all new referrals where concern has been expressed about a child. Your role will be to enhance the mental health aspect of risk assessment and risk management and to form sound links with Oxleas colleagues, Bexley Care and Primary Care.
Key to our success is a commitment to working together with the whole family to enhance the independence and quality of life of those experiencing mental health problems and to view the child in their wider context.
You will play a vital role working in a supportive multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the range of skills and expertise already established.
You will receive regular supervision and appraisal from a senior member of staff within MASH and have excellent opportunities for continued professional development, including further training as an AMHP and Best Interest Assessor.
We are looking for a registered Social Worker with a sound knowledge of safeguarding for both children and adults and how statutory agencies work together to achieve safe and appropriate plans for children and their parents. You would be expected to have a good understanding of relevant legislation and statutory duties, excellent communication skills and high standards of professional practice.
Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
