Senior Autism Practitioner (1 Year FTC)
New Struan School
£21,368 - £25,182

Full Time – 37 hours per week

New Struan School has been leading the way in the delivery of specialist education for children and young people with autism for over 35 years. Our vision is to enable our pupils to become included, confident learners in the community.

We know that young people with autism can be successful learners and we strive to provide the structured and supportive environment which enables them to reach their full potential.

We currently have a Senior Autism Practitioner vacancy, based at the residencies, which will support our school, New Struan.

We are looking to appoint an experienced, committed and motivated practitioner. We require an individual who will use their enthusiasm, creativity and excellent personal skills in supporting us to work towards our vision: ‘Included, confident learners in the community’.

We are looking for someone who:
- is focused on high expectations of children and young people’s attainment;
- has a passion for working with pupils with many different learning needs;
- can demonstrate commitment and potential.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a creative and forward-thinking leader to manage a fantastic service that transforms children’s lives for the better. You will lead a team of dedicated Autism Practitioners and Support Workers; you will inspire them to provide a high quality support service to children with autism and coach and mentor them to ensure they perform to the best of their ability.

Using your outstanding communication skills, you’ll collaborate with agencies, multi-disciplinary teams and families to implement support plans to help children to succeed in their day-to-day lives.

Actively involving yourself in the recruitment process, you’ll always be on the lookout for talented individuals who could make the team even stronger.

This is a superb opportunity to undertake exceptional training and lead a hard-working team to success.

To be considered for this diverse role, you must have:
- experience gained within a supervisory and/or management role;
- a relevant health and social care qualification, or the willingness to gain this;
- good levels of IT literacy, including MS Word and Excel.

Organised and diligent, as the Senior Autism Practitioner, you must have a fresh-thinking approach and the ability to inspire and lead others.

As part of your role, you will be required to undertake shift work, including weekends, evenings and required for on-call, so flexibility towards working hours is key.

The successful candidate must be willing to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, as well as and registering with SSSC.

Closing Date: Monday 23rd October 2017

Interviews: Tuesday 24th October
