Positive Behaviour Focus​ - Care & Independence Support Worker based in Oswestry, Shropshire offering a salary of £16,000

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Positive Behaviour Focus worker to join our Care Team. This role will support students to develop independent life skills and encourage students to assume responsibility for managing themselves in learning and social environments. You will also provide intervention with students in need of behavioural support.

The key role responsibilities of the Positive Behaviour Focus - Care & Independence Support Worker are:

  • Supporting residential care staff with aspects of behavioural management in line with agreed cross college low arousal approach
  • Development of strategies/resources to support students with specific behavioural needs
  • Take an active role in supporting students in preparing for daily and/or evening and/or weekend activities and life skills
  • Facilitate and promote student social integration/inclusion within peer group where appropriate
  • Administration of medication in residence
  • Promote positive behaviour including one-to-one support where required
  • Design and implement daily/weekly positive behaviour support plans
  • Support students toward achievement of psychological and/or behavioural goals
  • Support students in developing personal care skills, according to their care plan and recording of care administered
  • Carry out general duties in residence and any other duties as reasonably requested
  • Ensure practice conforms to relevant legislation (i.e. Mental Capacity Act, Protection of Adults at Risk, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards)
  • Contribute to on-going behaviour assessments of students
  • Attend student reviews and relevant meetings when required
  • Work within a framework of collaboration with students and other professionals to enhance the learning and psychological development of students 

Person Specification:

  • Proven success of working within a similar role
  • LSA/care qualification – Autism / High Needs 
  • Excellent motivation, communication, team working, networking and negotiation skills with an ability to win confidence and credibility across a broad range of stakeholders
  • Proven ability to forge partnerships and build positive working relationships.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce high quality , presentations, training materials and/or correspondence that are tailored to the target audience
  • Ability to deliver quality services to set targets within deadlines, under pressure and maintaining professional standards
  • Ability to use ICT effectively in delivering services. Experience of software packages such as MS Office, email, databases and spreadsheets
  • Relevant knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of CQC framework / external quality standards

This post is term-time only and is inclusive of six weeks holiday pay. The post entails working every other weekend and some evening work. Shift patterns are 7.30am to 3.30pm or 3.30pm to 11pm.
