Application Software Design Lead

We have an exciting new vacancy to join a market leading and prestigious company in Chelmsford as an Application Software Design Lead. The company is technology driven and extremely reputable in the Engineering field, with excellent staff retention and working atmosphere.

As an Application Software Design Lead, you would be the Technical Lead for the Requirements Analysis, Design, Implementation and Testing of individual applications. You would be working alongside the Project Manager as part of a global software and firmware development team, providing embedded software and firmware for automotive Cockpit Electronics and Displays.

This role is very diverse, and we have a full job spec for those who are interested in applying after reading this advert and want to learn more. A run-down of the roles include handling software design for applications, including determination of change or re-use for legacy and the design of new elements including the development of designs and work packages for implementation by the team. You will also be the technical point of contact for any customer queries regarding the engineering process or in regards to the software itself, including any functional concerns. You will be supporting the Software Change Control process and also attend Board Meetings in regards to this, so you will really need to dedicate yourself to the role and ensure your knowledge in regards to these topics are vast. You will see the process through to the end and participate in the evaluation and assessment stages, as well as discussing mitigation planning of risks during the project to ensure everything runs smoothly. You will also need to follow design requirements and develop strategies for compliance on both an internal and external basis.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to have a Bachelors Degree or an equivalent qualification in Electronics, Physics or a related engineering discipline. As well as this, it is crucial you have knowledge in regards to common approaches tools and methods for real-time embedded microprocessor based implantations and have some Product Development Experience. It is also desirable, but not essential that you have knowledge of graphical display frameworks and techniques as well as formal software design notations and practices. It is also a preference you have some experience in the use of software tools such as making files and configuration management. Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be an effective communicator with good leadership and interpersonal skills.

For your efforts, you will receive an annual salary of between £48,000 and £53,000 and receive a multitude of other benefits including holiday entitlement, pension, childcare vouchers and free staff parking. The role is based in Chelmsford and offers a great and supportive work environment.
