Freight Forwarding Operator - Salary negotiable DOE - £20k-£26k
Our client is looking to recruit a Freight Forwarding Operator to join their team based in Portsmouth. The role is to ensure the accurate and timely relay of information between clients and subcontractors to ensure the accurate and profitable operation of the freight forwarding department, import service.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Daily contact with all subcontractors to update status of all loads in transit
Compile the daily reporting list of all collections and deliveries due that day
Contact all subcontractors who have not already replied to e mail enquiry for load status
Liaising with colleagues in other departments to decide which loads are to be routed via which department
Liaise with clients/consignees in order to book collections and deliveries as required.
Carry out a credit search on any potential new customers via the internet to ascertain their creditworthiness before any loading order(s) are accepted.
Essential Skills / Experience:
Previous experience within the European road freight industry
Energy and enthusiasm
Strong team player - willing to go above and beyond
Great communication skills with the ability to develop relationships with current clients
Strong numeracy skills
Desirable Skills / Experience:
Foreign Language skills
Knowledge of European geography
Strong IT knowledge
Working Hours:
Monday - Friday 9am - 5
Salary:
Negotiable DOE, approx £20,000 - £26,000 per annum
