The Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers is the UK’s fourth largest and fastest growing trade union, with over 430,000 members.

A vacancy exists for a Deputy Head of Finance based in the Records and Benefits Sections at the Union’s Head Office in Manchester.

The salary for this post is £50,679 pa and the successful applicant will be required to live within 50 miles of Central Office.

The principal duties of the post are: to manage and direct the work of the Records and Benefits Sections of the Finance Department, including all aspects of Union membership and direct debit, ensuring all functions are administered effectively and efficiently.

The successful applicant will possess: proven experience in the management of membership data for a trade union or other similar organisation; knowledge of (or ability to quickly develop knowledge of) trade union practices and procedures relating to membership and benefit entitlements and the collection and recording of member contributions via employer deduction schemes, Direct Debit and other methods; a proven ability to manage departmental and individual performance levels and staff.
