Support Worker - Sudbury, Stowmarket, Suffolk - £15,375 - £21,268 depending on experience
There is an option for an Assistant Support Worker role is available if you do not have Support Worker experience. Salary is Pro Rata for Assistant role
Support Worker is a full time role based on 37.5 hrs per week
Assistant Support Worker is a part time role based on 30 hrs per week (Pro Rata)
Our client provides housing management and support services to over ninety residents living in East Anglia. The supported housing provision ranges from hostel accommodation to shared and self-contained flats provided for both men and women who require support. They may be ex-offenders or have other problems such as substance abuse or low level mental health problems. They are referred mainly by the local authorities with whom we work.
Support Worker – Role Overview and Responsibilities
To provide support and housing management services to single men and women living in the community. To work with them to overcome the issues that affect their opportunity to live independently and achieve positive outcomes in their lives.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a team member
- Ability to consult & involve residents in service provision
- IT literate
- Ability to provide high quality housing management and support services to residents
- Ability to cope in a sometimes stressful work environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with all sections of the organisation and to external agencies
- A full driving licence and the use of a car for work purposes
- Experience of working with vulnerable people with a range of support needs
- Experience of implementing ‘Supporting People’ and working to the prescribed standards within this regime
- Experience of assessing service users’ needs and using appropriate tools/methods for support planning
- Experience of liaising with & maintaining good relations with external agencies
- A high standard of literacy and numeracy
- Knowledge of equal opportunities issues
- Knowledge of health & safety requirements
Desirable Skills and Experience of
- Using an IT based system for client records
The list of essential skills, desirable skills and experience is not an exclusive one and duties may be varied from time to time by the line manager.
Holidays: 28 working days pro rata rising by one day per year of service up to a maximum of 30 days pro rata plus Bank Holidays
Pension: They operate an auto-enrolment pension scheme and contributes the equivalent of 6% of employee’s salary into this.
The Support Worker must also participate in the emergency callout rota for the organisation’s properties. When on call, staff will receive a standby allowance of £14 per day. In addition, there may be occasional evening meetings that the post holder will be expected to attend.
A mileage allowance will be paid as necessary and as determined by the Executive Committee of Solo Housing.
An enhanced DBS check will also be required.
