Junior Ladies Knitwear Designer - New Job Opportunity

Your new company
One of the UK's leading fashion suppliers to well-known high-street retailers based in Manchester now have an exciting job opportunity for a Junior Ladies Knitwear Designer. This company is well located with excellent transport links. They are looking to employ a Junior knitwear designer who can work across trend led high-street accounts for womenswear.

Your new role
You will begin by research trends both online and through comp shops and inspiration trips to produce mood boards to present to your customers; you will identify trends in colour, yarns, pattern and shapes. You will translate this inspirational trend information into commercial designs, and to do this you will produce detailed CAD artwork on Kaledo knit or equivalent, Photoshop and Illustrator with supporting technical specs to send into the factories ready for production. You will communicate daily with customers, other departments within the business and Far East factories. You will travel to meet customers and present your designs and talk through trend.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in the role you should have demonstrable experience of designing knitwear for womenswear accounts. You should have a true knitwear background and an excellent knowledge of yarns and knits which covers gauges, machines and stitches. It would be beneficial if you had experience of specialised knitwear software such as Kaledo Knit, or equivalent. You should be confident in your presentation skills as you will be required to attend meetings with customers.
