Sessional Film Lecturer

GBP14.65 - GBP19.13 per hour*

* for each contact teaching hour you will be paid at 1.5 times this rate to allow for preparation, marking and training time.

Main purpose and scope of the post:

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated sessional lecturer in Film Making to teach on our highly popular and successful UAL awarding body Level 3 Diploma course in Creative Media Production & Technology (Film) and potentially to teach upon a range of Film courses within the department.

Brighton MET College is a University of the Arts awarding body centre delivering the full suite of creative qualifications ( ) which support the departmental vision for learners to develop independence of practice through practical and reflective study.

Our film courses focus on the development of technical skills, research skills, idea generation, visual communication, critical thinking, evaluative &reflective skills, design concepts and the creative use of technology.

Students cover a wide range of specialist Filmmaking skills including:

  • Camera
  • Editing (Including colouring & FX)
  • Sound design/recording
  • Scriptwriting
  • Production planning
  • Lighting
  • Epks
  • Production research
  • Contextual reserach

Students are introduced to software such as; Premier pro, Adobe Audition and After effects.

Brighton and Hove is an important Centre for Creative Industries and we are looking for a forward thinking individual with experience of the Film making Industries. The candidate should have proven experience of delivering outstanding teaching and learning and be highly committed to working with, motivating and inspiring young people who have ambitions to work in the Film & Creative Industries.

The role involves the delivery of specialist Film making skills, the assessment of student work, feedback to students, monitoring of student progress and all associated administration.

The lecturer would require previous experience with working with a wide variety of learners, some of whom may have learning difficulties and additional learning needs.

This role requires a high level of professional knowledge, experience and understanding of the subject area, along with a relevant degree.

Candidates will have relevant previous teaching experience along with a recognised teaching qualification and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and excellent IT and administrative skills.

It is a requirement that all new lecturing staff possess GCSE Maths and English (minimum Grade C) or equivalent.
