Our client is an innovative, modern arms-length housing organisation (ALMO), created in October 2005 employing approximately 540 staff and managing 11,500 properties across the borough of Stockport.  Recognised as a Sunday Times Top 100 ‘Best Places to work in the Public Sector’ employer, they have been awarded Investors in People (Gold) status and also thrilled to have been named UK’s Top Landlord after winning the 24Housing magazine vote.

Joining them as a Building Surveyor, you will support the Investment team with the delivery of disabled adaptations to properties and other projects as part of the Capital Investment Programme.

Focusing in four key areas; Customer Satisfaction, Quality Control, Health & Safety and providing technical support and advice, you will work closely with the officers from the Older Persons Team and the Occupational Therapists to create a working environment that delivers adaptations to properties to meet the residents’ needs through the care plan package of works.

Agreeing the specification and monitoring works for disabled adaptations, you will take responsibility for compliance with current building regulations and statutory legislation; working in collaboration with members of the Project team, clients and customers to ensure projects run smoothly and objectives are achieved.  You must also monitor work on site and endeavour to ensure the safety of all persons affected by the works, reporting breaches to appropriate persons when necessary.

With previous skills and experience as a Building Surveyor on functions such as maintenance and refurbishment contracts, disabled adaptations, responsive repairs, change of tenancy repairs, stock condition surveys, new build quality inspections and cyclical and statutory inspections; candidates must have a relevant qualification and be capable of effectively balancing conflicting priorities to meet targets, deliver successful projects and achieve outcomes.

With a good understanding Health and Safety legislation, in particular the requirements under the Construction, Design Management regulations 2015, you must have experience of cost evaluation and project control and an understanding of contractor performance within a social housing environment.
