Due to internal promotions and increased activity Lhoist have a vacancy for a suitably qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer to lead our electrical team on our successful and busy site. Working as part of a small team alongside mechanical and production personnel, you will have a varied and interesting workload, along with opportunity for personal growth and development. Production requirements dictate the site operates 24/7 and this will require a degree of flexibility in working patterns when required.

Engineering Manager is Head of Department

Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer will lead the electrical section of the maintenance team and will take responsibility for the day to day administration of the section. Day to day duties will include maintenance planning and the deployment of workforce to reactive and proactive maintenance activities. Administration duties will include holiday planning and wages approval, MS&RA generation, control of contractors, spares planning and shutdown planning.  

Major Responsibilities:

Key areas of responsibility will include:

- Working within a strict budget for electrical spend and overtime control
- Planning day to day activities in conjunction with the mechanical department
- Work with the projects department on designs and installations of equipment
- Holiday planning and wages approval
- Sourcing and installation of electrical equipment
- Managing the maintenance management system within SAP
- Developing preventative maintenance strategies in conjunction with the engineering manager

Supervision:

This is a supervisory role which will require a dedicated individual with an excellent work ethic. You will be able to motivate a team of Senior Electrical Technicians, Shift Electrical Technicians, Instrument Technicians, electrical apprentices and support staff within your department to deliver a reliable service which will keep the plant operating to current reliability KPIs. 

Educational & Other Qualifications:

Essential:

- HNC Electrical Engineer Qualification
- Previous supervisory experience
- IOSH or NEBOSH certificate
- Computer skills

Desirable:

- Member of a professional body
- Hazardous area working
- Isolating high voltage

Professional Experience:

- Familiar with working with Electrical plant and equipment in a hostile environment
- Supervisory experience in a multi-disciplined environment
- Experience of trouble shooting and fault analysis 
- Supplier liaison

Technical Skills:

- Electrical hands-on skills
- Competent PC user
- Knowledge of MS Office packages

Soft Skills:

- Personable, with good team motivation skills
- Self-starter, used to working on own initiative
- Verbal & written communication skills (including report writing)
