Combined Bridge Builder and Peer Support Officer

Salary: £8,411.13 Per Annum
Hours: 17.5 hours per week
Term: 18 months fixed-term contract
Area: Barrow-in-Furness and the surrounding area
Location: Barrow
Imagine is recruiting for a combined post of Bridge Builder and Peer Support Officer. The successful candidate will work on the Getting Cumbria to Work project for 7.5 hours a week and our Bridge Building Service for 10 hours per week.
Getting Cumbria to Work is a new project led by Cumbria CVS and funded through Building Better Opportunities that aims to provide support to individuals across south Cumbria to overcome the barriers to accessing and sustaining work. Imagine will be delivering this employment support service in the Barrow area for people with mental health problems in partnership with pre-selected employers.
Imagine’s Bridge Building Service works with people supported by social services and with a disability to access mainstream community opportunities, and will mainly focus on working in Barrow-in-Furness and the surrounding area.
We would welcome applications from anyone who has the following:
- Experience of developing empowering and therapeutic relationships with individuals in order to support them into activities, including recreation and employment.
- Strong skills in supporting individuals with social inclusion and removing significant barriers to fulfilling and meaningful community living.
- Local knowledge of opportunities available to the wider community.
- The ability to work with a wide range of people and organisations.
