We are now recruiting for a Front End Developer for our software feature team in UK R&D. About the role As pioneers in AI within the lighting industry, Helvar is investing to stay ahead of the technology curve and reap the benefits of future business opportunities, in particular the continuous improvement of the wellbeing of end-users. Embracing Agile methodology, our R&D team of 70 technology experts (Finland + UK offices), are developing new IoT solutions with products ranging from our own hardware and embedded software products and sensors, to mobile applications, developer APIs and cloud services. We also have our own advanced electronics factory, primarily for prototyping and production ramp ups. As a front end developer, you will be responsible for building the 'client-side' of our web applications. You should be able to translate our company and customer needs into functional and appealing interactive applications. UX and UI will be second nature to you and you should be able to translate mockups into working pages working alongside our cloud developers. Main Responsibilities We expect you to be a tech-savvy professional, who is curious about new digital technologies and aspires to combine usability with visual design. You will be able to create a functional and attractive digital environment, ensuring a great user experience. As a growing team and you will have lots of room for influencing and choosing technologies, helping us implement our vision of a Cloud First company. Seeking solutions first in the cloud, ensuring speed of development and deployment, platform independent. • Use markup languages like HTML to create user-friendly web pages • Maintain and improve website • Optimize applications for maximum speed • Design mobile-based features • Collaborate with back-end developers and web designers to improve usability • Get feedback from, and build solutions for, users and customers • Write functional requirement documents and guides • Create quality mockups and prototypes • Help back-end developers with coding and troubleshooting • Ensure high quality graphic standards and brand consistency • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies Requirements: • Proven work experience as a Front-end developer • Hands on experience with markup languages • Experience with JavaScript, CSS and jQuery • Experience with software like Photoshop to create assets based on the UX design prototypes • Familiarity with browser testing and debugging • In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment) • Understanding of layout aesthetics • Knowledge of SEO principles • An ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment • Excellent analytical and multitasking skills • Experience in Agile and test-driven development • Be passionate about delivering an outstanding experience Location Our newly refurbished office is based on the South East London/Kent boarder in landscaped gardens with easy access from central London. 35 minutes by train from London Bridge or via car on the A2 at the Dartford Heath Interchange/M25 Junction 2.
