Job type: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Location: NG2 Business Park - direct tram link to Nottingham Train Station, Lace Market & City Centre

In three years, Current has gone from a new product entering the entertainment, production and event market to a recognised brand, providing the most innovative software solutions to over 1,300 businesses globally.

The design and user interface of Current has now set the industry standard and every element of our design and marketing is always what sets us apart.

As a result of our rapid expansion we are now looking for a creative, passionate and enthusiastic designer to join us on this exciting journey, helping further position our brand as industry thought leaders.

You will be working within a fun and vibrant team, alongside the Head of Design, creating exciting new concepts across all possible channels.

The Role 

As a designer in our in-house creative team, your opinion matters. You will produce modern, creative and innovative work to the highest quality whilst continuously collaborating with the wider creative team from concept right the way though to production.

Creativity is essential to this role. Reporting to the Head of Design, you will be able to conceptualise and design compelling creative work for all branding, marketing and communications as well as assisting
with user interface design and concepts.

Skills you Must Have

• Passion about design and cutting edge technology.
• Good understanding of and experience with web design development.
• 2 years + commercial experience as a web/digital designer.
• Degree in design related area.
• Fresh thinking, creative and enthusiastic about design.
• A proactive approach to learning new skills.
• Ability to hand code HTML and CSS3.
• Good graphic designs skills using Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Good understanding of UX and usability principles.
• Good communications skills.
• Ability to plan and prioritise everyday workload.
• Be able to manage your own time, work efficiently and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to take constructive criticism and take direction.
• Have high standards of presentation in all your work and strong attention to detail

To stand out, you will also have

• Experience in developing responsive websites.
• Knowledge of responsive frameworks.
• Have some experience working with SCSS.
• Understanding of CSS modular architecture.
• Knowledge of building websites using Jekyll.

Some of the design tasks of this role include:

• Supporting and maintaining the existing website as well as developing new exciting landing pages (similar to this or this).
• Communicating new ideas and implementing new digital design concepts for newsletters and online adverts.
• Creating product mock-up images and manipulate images to make them more enticing.
• Co-create new promotional campaigns; print and online.
• Create graphics and merchandise designs for the exhibitions we attend worldwide.
• Be part of new cutting edge web projects such as the creation of user interface concepts.

Create awesome things

A typical project would involve collaborating with the Current RMS marketing team to design a creative solution for a new marketing strategy which encompasses exciting digital marketing material such as interactive landing pages, advertising banners and social media images.

Providing your own valuable, creative input, you will oversee the work from start to finish with guidance from the Head of Design.

Your work will be showcased all over the globe and you’ll have lots of fun engaging with thousands of customers worldwide, taking on-board feedback and working towards improving design concepts. We work hard together as a team but also have a lot of fun both at work with everlasting treat Fridays and outside of work, with good food, drink and a casual visit to The Butcher in the Escape Rooms (if you can call that fun)!

The Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced designer in both digital and print formats and be able to demonstrate a strong portfolio, showcasing your strengths in web design and front-end development as well as integrated campaigns and branded merchandise.

You will have a good eye for detail and understand the importance of critical thinking in your design decisions.

• Full-time, permanent position.
