Systems Engineer/Architect (Requirements Gathering) Poole, Dorset 40000 - 65000 + Package Your new company This organisation is a leading engineering firm based in Poole, right in the centre of the South Coast. Due to sustained growth they are now in a position to add an experienced systems engineer/architect to the team. This is a hands-off role, focused on customer liaison and requirements gathering then transfer of knowledge to the development teams. These are not infrastructure roles. To be considered you must have Architect experience and have progressed from a systems engineering background covering requirements gathering, customer liaison, design, system delivery and acceptance Your new role This is a multi-faceted position crucial to the company delivering technical projects and as such the role covers the whole project lifecycle. You will have previous technical design experience and will be involved in presales solutions architecture for tender proposals and capturing new business, moving to preparing functional specifications and other systems engineering activities such functional designs and assisting the Project Managers to ensure the smooth delivery and acceptance of systems. Crucially you'll be able to translate high-level technical requirements and communicate these to other areas of the business, taking responsibility for their delivery. The company sits in the medium size bracket where you retain autonomy and control of projects but have room to progress to larger work and to a more senior position in time. What you'll need to succeed You must have complete technical project lifecycle experience and previous experience as an Architect, Product Owner or Systems Engineer or alike. Communication skills and the ability to manage upwards and downwards are essential, whether it is communicating with the development team in house, guiding senior management to making decisions or liaising with customers to refine their requirements. You should also have provided technical expertise/input to big processes. You may have previous experience with UML, working with case diagrams, and naturally may have progressed from a role touching on hardware, DB admin, networking or application development.
