Who will I be working with?

The Cake Crew is the UK’s largest independent manufacturer of private label cupcakes, supplying a variety of bakery products into major supermarkets, independent retailers and wholesalers. So, what will the role of Specification Technologist (Food) entail?

Reporting to the Technical Compliance Manager, as the Specification Technologist (Food) you’ll be responsible for writing product specifications within customer specification databases and providing technical support to the Technical Team, including artwork amends, KPI reporting, change management and regulatory / supplier updates. Duties will include but not be limited to:

• Inputting and maintaining online retailer and supplier portals, including managing information flow and inputting for the NPD process
• Completing customer questionnaires, quality attribute sheets and internal and external KPI reports
• Ensuring all specifications used within the business are accurate and up to date
• Ensuring own label and branded artwork are checked and relaying required information and amendments to the packaging team
• Advising the Marketing Department on weights, measures advertising claims, health and nutrition validation and legal labelling
• Ensuring export and branded specification requirements are delivered
• Allocating barcodes to branded and export products
• Maintaining internal systems, ensuring up to date data

What will I need to be considered for this Specification Technologist (Food) vacancy?

• Educated to at least an A Level standard or equivalent
• Knowledge and experience of food law legal labelling
• Understanding of HACCP Principles
• Superb administration and IT skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
• High level of attention to detail and methodical approach to work
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and using own initiative

Previous experience as a specification technologist within the food industry is essential.

Salary:  circa £26,000 negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Bala (Gwynedd, North Wales)
