Our client is recruiting for a Lead Occupational Therapist for their College in Openshaw. This is a permanent 43 Week per annum plus holidays.

The College is their exceptional non-residential specialist FE college based in Openshaw, Manchester. They meet the needs of students up to the age of 25 years with learning difficulties and disabilities, complex needs, communication disorders and autism. They promote a multidisciplinary approach to learning and has expertise in supporting students with a wide range of needs.

As a registered Occupational therapist and a Member of Chartered Society of Occupational therapists – your role will include the following responsibilities;

• An excellent practitioner, you will be responsible for therapy for a caseload of students in his/her discipline. They have 80 full and part time students of which a handful require OT
• Management and development of Occupational Therapy services and team - small team of committed staff who work well in our multidisciplinary team 
• Development of Occupational Therapy plans in line with the educational and progression goals of students
• To be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and collaborate with all colleagues at Bridge College. 
• Member of the middle management team reporting as required to senior managers
• Provision of advice and/or training for students, staff, professionals and families
• Development of outreach and commercial services
• Assessment of student and other service users’ needs and production of associated reports and guidelines

Ideally you will have worked with young people with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities. Experience of challenging behaviour would also be preferable however you will benefit from an excellent training programme offered by the trust and you will be joining and leading a dedicated team of OT’s who strive to make the college the outstanding college it is today!

For the safety of staff and the service users, training will be provided to assist employees to carry out their role, specifically the Movement & Management of Loads & People, Emergency First Aid and PROACT SCIPr UK training (this provides staff with the skills to carry out the sometimes necessary safe holds in a non threatening way). Employees will be required to fully participate in all training.
