Our client is recruiting for a Specialist Senior Support Worker to join the Team for their young adult service in Romiley, Stockport. Buckley Lodge is a welcoming contemporary decorated spacious property which houses 3 young males with complex needs, learning and physical disabilities. You will be joining a committed, friendly team that consists of Specialist Support Workers, Senior Specialists, Team Leaders and Managers who all work hard to ensure the best service is provided. The aim of the service is to provide extensive care, specialist positive behaviour support and promote independence and inclusion within the local community, in order to empower the service users to take control of their own lives. The main focus is to provide the highest level of support in order to enable greater independence, choice and fulfilment for the service users. The successful applicant will undertake all the core tasks within the remit of the services to provide for the physical, health, emotional and social needs of the individuals with complex support due to their condition, including promoting independence, whilst preparing, assisting and enabling them to fulfil the aims of their Person Centred Plan. This will be made possible by the implementing and coaching of the Specialist Community Support Worker to implement Positive Behaviour Support plans and strategies holistically within the team. You will also monitor the services systems and liaise directly with the Team Leader.

Your main responsibilities will include;

  • To provide a caring, safe, secure and accepting environment/service that meets the physical, health, social needs and rights of the service users and their families. This will include ensuring that cultural and religious needs are respected, promoted, facilitated and met. This will be achieved through integrating positive behaviour support strategies and approaches to enable the service user to achieve outcomes that improve their quality of life, independence and connections with others.
  • To undertake a range of duties that facilitate service user’s safety and well being. This will extend to providing personal assistance, personal care, and the administration of medication in line with the Trust policy and procedure documents
  • To work closely with the service/s management team and with relevant agencies with due regard to the views of service user, family and significant others. This will extend to notifying/update the Team Leader on a regular basis
  • Under the guidance of the Team Leader the Specialist Senior Community Support Worker will contribute to care planning, risk assessments, overseeing vital systems are operated to lead to high quality services, family meetings, gathering information that can be drafted into reports by the Team Leader and/or the Registered Manager and being proactive in relevant training alongside working as part of a team.

The ideal candidate will have experience in care and support, working in partnership with your service user ensuring your relationship is based on trust and respect, helping with personal care and support and encourage them with what they want to do. You will work well as part of a team and fully understand safeguarding and the protection of vulnerable adults. You will understand that care is 24/7 including overnight stays.
