We have a new exciting opportunity not to be missed! At Plumpton College we are currently looking to recruit a Student Services Officer to come and join our team based in Plumpton. The successful candidate will join us on a full time, permanent basis and will receive a competitive salary of £21,029 - £24,583 per annum.

We are looking to recruit a Student Services Officer who will participate fully as a member of the Student Services team. You will ensure that the College site is safe and secure and to play a major role in the logistical, support, administrative and social aspects of the student’s college experience. You will also assist the Student Services Manager with disciplinary issues as per college procedures.

Key responsibilities as our Student Services Officer

- To assist all students in any issues concerned with their pastoral, administrative, social and residential needs whilst at college. To ensure that acceptable standards of behaviour are maintained. Although the post is office based it will entail physical patrolling of the main college site and supporting students where necessary.

- To coordinate and supervise the transport arrangements for students.

- To provide help and guidance to all students and deal with any incidents which may arise.

- To liaise with students and parents as necessary to ensure that students are supported and that all relevant procedures are followed, and that parents are informed and consulted in line with college policy.

- To provide pastoral support to all students and work in liaison with academic tutors and other Student Services staff to ensure effective support and guidance is offered to all learners.

- To work closely with other Student Services staff to co-ordinate and administrate the arrival and departure of student and visitor groups within accommodation.

- To assist the Student Services Manager in delivery of prepared materials for residential tutorials.

- To act as a fire warden, which includes undertaking drills, responding in the event of a fire and any associated checks or requirements.

Skills and experience required of our Student Services Officer

- Level 2 or higher qualifications in both English and maths.

- Experience of working with students and young people in both a supportive and disciplinary role.

- Demonstrate a strong desire to work collaboratively as part of a high performing team.

- Have a strong desire to see students succeed, a clear understanding of the needs of students and how these may be met.

- Previous experience of mentoring young people regarding pastoral issues.

- Previous experience of liaising with external agencies, for example, Social Services.

- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the factors affecting student welfare and best practice in maintaining and enhancing student behaviour and safeguarding.

- A good understanding of confidentially and the ability to deal with sensitive issues in a professional and confident manner.

Desirable

- Driving licence which includes Category D1 (minibus with up to 16 passenger seats).

- Formal qualification in supporting young people.

- Previous experience in working in a Further Education environment.
