Southern Water has a great opportunity for a Process Operator to join their team on a permanent basis. The role will be based at Otterbourne WSW.
The role of a Process Operator is to monitor and adjust the operation of the Water Supply works, booster pumping stations and reservoirs in the area. This is to ensure that they are maintained and operated to be compliant with water quality standards, environmental regulations and health and safety standards.
Key focuses will be:-
• To operate and backwash the rapid gravity filter system and oversee operation of wash water and clarification plant.
• To carry out and report on a range of front line operational routine and reactive activities to time, to ensure the smooth operation of water supply operational sites in line with quantity and quality, regulatory and business standards.
• To carry out front line reactive maintenance tasks and planned work issued by our scheduling system.
• To carry out defective maintenance tasks - water supply site reactive failures, pumps and valves to ensure continuous plant operation.
• Fault finding and problem solving skills are essential.
• Monitoring, collating and reporting of data to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance is met.
• Working with other Directorates, a critical task to assist with completion of CAPEX and OPEX schemes.
• Oversee contractor diligence on site and escalate when required.
It is desirable that this person has an understanding of the use of different water supply processes, chemicals and equipment used to treat water to a high standard and be educated to A level standard in Science and Maths.
This role offers an attractive package with a salary of up to GBP22,000 depending on experience. A full UK driving licence is required.
Please note that due to the nature of the this role, you must be prepared to work out doors in all weather conditions and be available to work within the company's 7 day working window. It involves shift working and providing cover for sickness and training.
