Full Time:
The appointment will be on UCL Grade 8. The salary range will be Grade 8 GBP43,023 - GBP50,753 per annum, Grade 9 GBP55,163 - GBP59,981 per annum , inclusive of London Allowance.
The TRO Drug Discovery Group was originally established in 2012, in response to a growing pipeline of early stage drug discovery programmes emanating from UCL research. Populated by experienced medicinal chemists with industry backgrounds, the group provides theoretical and practical expertise to support the progression of selected UCL projects. The successful candidate will lead a team of scientists with responsibility for the compound screening and pharmacological/biochemical characterisation capabilities of the TRO Drug Discover Group (TRO DDG). Develop and implement assays, provide screening assays and generate quality data to enable progression of drug discovery programmes towards the delivery of lead development candidates. Working closely with the Head of the TRO Drug Discovery Group, and Director, Translational Research Office (TRO) to develop and implement the TRO DDG strategy, and to ensure successful delivery of projects.
Candidates should have a BSc in Biological Sciences; PhD in an area of relevant science and Significant experience in the design, development and implementation of compound screening assays to support drug discovery. Candidates should also have knowledge of theoretical and practical cellular biology & enzyme pharmacology and experience of using both primary and immortalised cell lines for drug discovery assays. A proven track record of drug discovery, together with research, policy or scholarship contribution of national significance is essential to be appointed at a grade 9 level.
