Direct Appointments is currently working with a rapidly expanding manufacturing company, who require a Manufacturing/ Maintenance Engineer to be based at their HQ site in Swindon, Wiltshire. The Manufacturing Engineer will only work weekdays and will be working closely with and reporting directly to the Manufacturing Director.

As a Manufacturing Maintenance Engineer you will be required to design and implement manufacturing facilities and processes that support both near and medium-term production demands. In addition, the Manufacturing Maintenance Engineer will be required to drive quality assurance requirements across the company's supplier base, supervise production technicians on a day-to-day basis and champion company DFX (manufacture, shipping, installation and maintenance).

Key Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Maintenance Engineer:
- Influence new product developments to optimise DFx (manufacture, shipping, installation and maintenance).
- Establish process and facilities to support production demands while assuring Safety, Quality and Productivity requirements are met.
- Day to day supervision and assignment of daily tasks for Production Technicians.
- Lead effort within supplier base to identify, capture and cascade quality requirements to suppliers manufacturing process to assure quality parts are delivered to the assembly line.
- Hands-on problem solving for quality and reliability improvement
- Support and/or lead Kaizen events against agreed calendar.

Short Term Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Maintenance Engineer:
- Drive DFx thinking and implementation for site/plant machinery.
- Establish appropriate process and facilities for first plant machines
- Proactively deploy quality requirements for part production through supplier base
- Practitioner level for Standard Work, 5S and 3P Kaizens.

Essential Skills of the Manufacturing Maintenance Engineer:
- Graduate in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Production Engineering.
Will accept HNC / HND in Engineering (likely Mechanical or Production Engineering).
- At least three years' experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role.
- Practitioner of key Lean Manufacturing principles; 5S, or Standardised Work, or Poke Yoke or Kanban.
- Familiar with and worked with New Product Development process to influence design for manufacture and implement new designs to manufacturing.

Desirable skills of the Manufacturing Maintenance Engineer:
- Designed, implemented and operated assembly flow lines.
- Proven track record of experience of supervising a small team.
