This is a great opportunity to join a highly successful British business, firmly committed to designing, developing and manufacturing their products in the UK. The company, a major West Country business, produces an extensive range of domestic and commercial electro-mechanical products. With a recent change to the Senior Management team, the company is now planning to strengthening its Design teams.

Reporting to a Senior Manager you will be a key member of a Design team and tasked with delivering New Product designs as well as supporting existing Product ranges. This will be a broad brief from involvement in concepts generation and modelling, through testing, computer design and tooling validation. You will liaise closely with various internal Departments, but especially the New Product Introduction team, on "design for manufacture/assembly" initiatives. Over and above this you will interface with suppliers and provide regular updates on project progress.

Ideally, but not essentially, educated to degree level in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or similar, candidates should have several years post grad experience in the Design of complex electro-mechanical products or equipment. Innovative and a solutions generator, you should have experience of plastics design/injection moulding. You will also be an advanced user of SolidWorks or a similar 3D CAD package and have a strong awareness of and commitment to "Design for Manufacture/Assembly".
