Windows & Doors Surveyor (Self Employed)

The company is a Cornish manufacturing company which was established in 1985. Their factory and showroom are based in Pool, Redruth. They design, fabricate and install conservatories, orangeries, windows, doors and glass balustrading for residential, commercial and trade customers. They have a large showroom displaying both bespoke and standard designs and they pride themselves on their well deserved reputation for innovative design, high quality products and excellent workmanship, followed up with genuine after sales service.

To undertake measured survey's for windows, doors etc for manufacture and installation, including the full range of company uPVC, aluminium and timber products. The position could be part-time or full-time if combined with fitting / service work.

Main Duties:

To accurately measure, compile/compute and process domestic, trade and commercial projects for manufacture and installation. General duties will include:

  • To contact customers and arrange a mutually convenient time to carry out the survey.
  • To confirm with the customer details/designs on the contract ensuring they are happy with and understand what they have ordered.
  • To undertake the survey ensuring accurate measurements are taken and processed.
  • To complete installation notes and on-site risk assessments accurately.
  • To check contract detailing and communicate necessary alterations.
  • To process all completed survey paperwork through to the preparation of Installation Packs.
  • To highlight to the Installations Manager any potential problems or anything unusual on site.
  • To ‘price check' actual costs against Sales Designers costs.

Essential knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Min Level 2 NVQ Surveying or equivalent experience.
  • Good hand drawing skills and ability to make clear notes.
  • Experience in a similar role.

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Several years experience working in the glazing or construction industry.
  • Level 3 NVQ surveying.
  • Previous fitting experience.
  • CAD.
  • Window Designer Software.

Personal qualities:

  • Neat and concise preparation of hand written and computerised documentation.
  • Ability to multi-task and deal with numerous contracts and parties simultaneously.
  • Confident and self motivated with a positive attitude and excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to prioritise work load.
  • A keen eye for detail with an ability to foresee and communicate potential issues.
  • Trustworthy and reliable.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good timekeeper.

Responsible to:

  • General Manager.

Personal development:

  • Training will be provided where required and for all relevant in-house software.

Support & guidance:

  • You will have the full support of your colleagues through each project.

Hours of work:

  • Typically 2 to 3 days per week or could be full time if combined with fitting / service work.

Transport & equipment:

  • You will be required to provide your own transport; a mileage allowance will be paid.
  • You will be required to provide your instruments and tools.

Remuneration:

  • Self employed at £15 per hour plus bonus.
