£35,000 – £40,000

Mears is a FTSE 250 company uniquely placed to address the major challenges in housing, health and social care.

We are a market leader in providing housing management and maintenance services to the affordable housing sector, and also a major presence in the homecare and support market.

In housing, we repair and maintain around 15% of the Social Homes in the UK and we are increasingly focused on providing broader affordable housing solutions.

In care, we provide personal care to over 20,000 people a year, enabling older and disabled people to continue living in their own homes.

We focus on long-term outcomes and positive social, economic and environmental impact.

Our vision is to make a positive difference to the communities we serve.

We do this by improving homes, improving communities and improving lives and our approach is based on the development of outstanding partnerships with employees, clients, tenants, customers, their families and the wider community.

With staff of all ages and walks of life, a job with Mears has rewarding impact on the lives of others and your own life. With offices across the UK, a job at Mears could be just around the corner.

An excellent opportunity has now arisen for a Group External Communications Business Partner.

Within this role, you will be responsible for positioning Mears as the market leader within the Social Housing and Care and Support markets.

Driving increased positive media coverage and positive perception of the Group (nationally, locally and with key stakeholders), you will generate and produce compelling, original and innovative content (print and digital) and will conduct research and interviews for editorial content.

You will also support Branches across Britain with the development of communications plans and with crisis comms management.

In order to be successful in this role, you will have at least five years’ experience working in a similar role coupled with relevant qualification(s). You will have excellent writing skills combined with experience of managing and monitoring effective projects and campaigns; Journalistic writing skills would be beneficial as this role will primarily involve generating editorial content. You will have experience of implementing strategy and business plans and will have the ability to create and deliver innovative solutions – and confidence to put ideas into play.

Knowledge of appropriate communications tools and platforms is also important.
