Commercial Director
Salary: GBP70,000 - GBP90,000 per annum
Location: Bristol

About the role:
The Commercial Director is a critical member of the company's strategic and day-to-day leadership at board and executive levels. You will oversee and control all contractual, legal and ethical aspects of company strategy and performance. You will be responsible for upholding the ethos of the company, maintaining and leading the necessary resources to maintain a professional contribution to the company's success.

Responsibilities:
* Establish effective relationships with all colleagues providing strong leadership to the company, modelling the values and behaviours expected of a senior leader in a growing business
* Develop a suitable commercial and contract strategy for every bid / offering / sub-contract, understanding and managing the contract risks within the company's risk appetite
* Support the Business Development Director and the Operations Director in the qualification of prospects, bid / no-bid, compete / collaborate, and pricing decisions at bid assessment gates
* Support the preparation of bids to optimise the offer / cost / price / risk balance
* Develop the negotiating strategy for and lead the negotiation of all complex, novel or contentious contracts, alliances or joint ventures; achieving win-win outcomes
* Develop and manage necessary compliance regimes to prevent conflicts of interest between contracts and contracting parties
* Lead the company's governance and compliance in the areas of: contract law, anti-bribery and corruption, ethical behaviour, and export controls

About you:
* Significant experience of contract negotiation and management of contracts and commercial agreements with customers and suppliers in cultures other than the UK
* Experience of contracting professional consulting engineering and design, especially to major prime contractors in defence, complex engineering and shipbuilding / repair
* Previous experience of drafting, analysing and modifying terms and conditions for sale or purchase
* Experience of identifying / implementing mitigation strategies
