The School

The Role

From November 2017 We are seeking a qualified Careers Adviser to cover maternity leave. The postholder will work at Gordano School 3 days per week. Please note this role will involve occasional evening work. This position will suit a driven, professional who can deliver a first class careers and employability service. This role is critical in managing the provision of career learning, planning and development. The successful candidate will advise students and network with businesses and employers. The role will promote all aspects of the employability agenda as well as provide a high level of career guidance and information.

Key skills will include:

  • The ability to display a calm, motivational and tactful attitude with excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Successful experience of working with young people in career guidance and management is essential.
  • Proven track record in leading or able to show expert knowledge relating to career information and guidance in a proactive networking environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent coaching and prioritisation skills.

The post requires a highly motivated person with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who can work well as part of a team, who must also be organised and methodical with an excellent attention to detail. The ability to prioritise a busy workload is essential as is the need to meet deadlines whilst dealing with frequent interruptions.
