Our client have an exciting opportunity for a strong Area Farm Manager to lead the day to day operations of this profitable multi-site business.

Job Title: Area Farm Manager

Salary: Approx. GBP50-60K base (dependent on experience), car, % of company profits, relocation assistance would be considered for the right candidate

Now in its 3rd generation of management, this successful farming business has an exciting opportunity for a strong Area Farm Manager with experience in a range of animal husbandry to join the company and take it forwards into the future. It has a great reputation in the farming industry with a number of prestigious contracts to supply big names in the UK food industry.

This person will be responsible for overseeing a number of sites that operate in a variety of areas including, but not limited to poultry, pigs, a PYO fruit farm and horse livery.

Farm Manager -The Role:

We are looking for someone who can work closely with the family owners and take a lead in the day to day operational management of the farm business. This will include personnel management over a team of c.20 full time employees and having an important input into the business decisions relating to the existing set up to ensure the quality, reputation and profitability of all farming activities.

Farm Manager -Key Responsibilities:

- Ensure all aspects of running the business are met by being an active presence on all sites in a management and advisory capacity, but being hands on when necessary

- Improve performance and production whilst maintaining health and welfare of the stock

- Organise, plan, review and develop sales and purchases to ensure effective trading, operations and customer/supplier relations. This includes livestock, materials and services

- Record, monitor, analyse and report on trends and activities, making recommendations relating to livestock performance and business development opportunities.

- Be an ambassador for the farm at local events e.g. The British Pig Association meetings

- Manage and develop staff

Farm Manager -Experience Required:

- Experience of animal husbandry and managing livestock.

- People management experience for teams of 10+ including recruitment and performance management

- Good communication skills to liaise with staff and customers/suppliers both on the telephone and in person

- Full clean driving licence

- Basic budgeting and financial skills

- Flexible approach to work including weekends and overnights, if and when there are emergencies on the farm
