The Whitechapel Centre and SHAP Ltd are Liverpool City Region based charities which provide support to people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, and / or have support needs. We offer help with building confidence, developing independent living skills and supporting people to address substance use or other health and wellbeing issues. We also help people to access social and community networks, training, education and employment.

The Whitechapel Centre and SHAP Ltd, in partnership with Liverpool City Council, are to deliver a Harm Reduction Service based within a supported accommodation setting in Liverpool.  The service is for up to 33 people who have substance misuse and/or mental health issues, some of whom may also have physical health and care needs. 

The aim of the service is to increase individuals’ sense of confidence, independence and recovery and enable them to make positive changes in their lives. Support will be offered to help service users to access services including education, treatment services and independent / alternative living accommodation if appropriate. Daily support interventions, alongside engagement / learning activities will be used to promote engagement; build trust and motivation; reduce harm and improve health and well-being; improve social skills, confidence, self-esteem; and provide diversion to reduce drug/alcohol use.

Night Support Worker (4 FTE Posts)

Your role will be to support the delivery of our harm reduction service, supervising residents’ conduct, health, hygiene, safety and welfare during the night-time.

Able to engage with clients, build trust and develop a motivation to change, you will ensure all residents are given the security and support to minimise harm and risk, address individual need and take control of their own lives.
