What you'll be doing

Your main responsibilities will be:
  • To be an ambassador for Great Western Railway by delivering the best customer experience and a safe journey
  • To greet customers and assist them with their journey, providing information and customer care at all times but especially when the service is disrupted
  • To manage the day-to-day operational activities of the train
  • To ensure that the full range of on-train products and services are available and delivered to specification.
  • To check and sell tickets, providing information and assistance as required
  • To maintain and ensure on-train safety and security of colleagues and customers at all times by being vigilant to safety and security risks
  • During times of disruption or out of course activity, to provide colleagues with accurate and timely information and cooperate to ensure customer needs are treated as a priority.

Who we're looking for

You'll need to be:
  • Passionate about delivering outstanding customer service
  • Flexible, with the ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends and bank holidays
  • Comfortable working in a strictly regulated environment
  • Proactive with a "can do" attitude
  • Able to evaluate situations and make appropriate decisions

As a minimum you'll need to have:
  • An understanding of customers' needs
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to build relationships and work as part of a team
  • Experience of front line customer service
  • Supervisory and/or people management skills

Additional Information:

You will be required to wear the uniform provided, including safety shoes .

You must live within a maximum of one hour's travelling time from the depot and be able to get to and from work for early starts and after late finishes.
