We are working with a local Southampton based firm who have offices in Winchester and London. They are looking to expand the teams after recently moving into new premises.
The role will be to assist Client Managers and Directors in providing a proactive service to existing and potential clients; that work provided will be professional, timely and accurate as well as offering proactive advice wherever necessary.
The audit senior participates in and leads staff on audit engagements.
You will be given the opportunity to undertake challenging assignments, clients and staff responsibilities relating to auditing procedures.
Major Responsibilities & Duties:
• Lead client audit engagements, which include planning, executing, directing and completing financial audits.
• Begin to develop an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles reporting rules, where applicable and financial statement presentation.
• Obtain a thorough understanding of accepted auditing standards and common audit procedures and techniques.
• Supervise, train and mentor staff on audit process to ensure their tasks are carried out to a satisfactory standard and within budget.
• To review all work completed by junior staff.
• Research and analyse financial statement and audit related issues.
• Acquire a working knowledge of the client's business.
• Proactively interact with key client's management to gather information, resolve problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements.
• To ensure personal time sheets are accurate and timely so that budgets and forecasts are met.
• To prepare presentations when asked to do so and present these for the benefit of their employees.
• To identify Cross-Selling opportunities across the firm.
• To provide input into the development and improvement in the process and procedures relating to this role.
• To effectively operate all office systems and to contribute to the development and improvement of these.
• To manage and maintain own knowledge and skills to ensure continuous development.
• Any other duties as requested at a level appropriate to this role.
Key Attributes:
• Responding to client's emails/ telephone calls within 24 hours.
• Continual timescales met.
• Production of client work to agreed timescales.
• Production of client work to agreed budgets
• Own chargeable time budget of 85%
• No significant client complaints.
• Continuing membership of a professional body.
Experience and Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 - 3 years' recent work experience as an auditor, demonstrating a progression in complexity of auditing and accounting tasks.
• Experience in a client facing role
• Confident knowledge in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, CCH, Sage Line 50, Xerox and IRIS.
• Working knowledge of all relevant accounts preparation, disclosure and auditing requirements.
• Full member of one of the Accounting Bodies, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in managing staff.
• Professionalism, reliability, integrity and trustworthiness combined with a cooperative attitude

• Respectable corporation Tax / VAT and PAYE knowledge.
