OKA is a successful multi-channel retailer of beautiful, unique and affordable furniture and accessories for the home. Today, we have 14 stores and an extensive mail order, online and trade business with many thousands of customers throughout the UK and the world beyond. 

 We are looking to recruit a Visual Merchandising DIY General Assistant to help support the Visual Merchandising team.

Your role will incorporate:

  • Applying coats of paint, building structures for window displays and supporting the Visual team in recreating room sets
  • Lifting and moving heavy furniture and fixtures, and being cautious when doing so
  • Undertaking minor repair works and visual maintenance jobs
  • Using all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works
  • Monitor decorating material stock and note when new stock is required
  • Carrying out the planned programme of painting and redecoration in accordance with floorplans
  • Continuously supporting the Visual Merchandisers while you are working within showrooms

You will need:

  • Practical skills combined with a high level of attention to detail that allows you to complete jobs in the most efficient manner
  • To be constantly aware and respectful of the surroundings you are working in, tidying up after finishing, and cleaning all equipment used
  • A sense of positivity that is visible within your work and day-to-day tasks. No job will be too big or too small for you to take on
  • The ability to follow job instructions well

  • You will need to have great time management skills, a professional work ethic and a good sense of team dynamics
  • Ability to travel between showrooms
  • Occasionally undertake out of hours working when required


  • Have a good understanding of layout and visual appeal
  • Have an interest in interiors
  • Any Manual Handling/First Aid or Labour related certificates are a plus, but not essential
