Our client's in Malton, North Yorkshire are recruiting for an Adult Support Worker - with proven experience offering opportunities for people with learning disabilities, mental health problems and other special needs to live, learn and work with others of all abilities in an atmosphere of mutual care and respect.

Qualification – Essential
Reasonable general education (evidence of numeracy and literacy)
Level 2 or 3 NVQ in Health & Social Care or an equivalent qualification is highly desirable
Applicants without a social care qualification will need to prove competencies to be considered

Skills, Abilities & Experience – Essential
Proven experience of working within a care or support setting, ideally with adults with learning disabilities
Working knowledge of risk assessment, health and safety, support and care plans, safeguarding, person centred planning, equalities and human rights desirable.
Proven experience of support in the home, workshop and community settings.
Able to work flexible hours – likely to include 1 x sleep in per week and some weekend hours
Motivation to work with vulnerable adults to maximise independent living skills
Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with client group.
Ability to motivate and encourage others using person centred thinking skills.
Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision, to include lone working
Ability to organise, prioritise and manage workload effectively.
Knowledge and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults
Understanding of the Supporting People agenda and Quality Assessment Framework standards required.
Understanding of person centred planning and approaches.
Understanding of Social Care legislation relating to adults with a learning disability including:
Valuing People / Our Health, our care, our say / Mental Capacity Act
Registered Enhanced/Standard DBS Disclosure within the last 12 months
Understanding and commitment to the Equal Opportunities policy
