Position: Payroll Administrator
Location: Letchworth, Hertfordshire
Salary: Up to £23,000 per annum

Reporting to: Payroll Manager

Client is a national group of accountants and business advisers. The prime function of this role is to provide payroll services to the clients of VBS.

Process client payrolls
Ensure correct Tax/NI rates and relevant certificates are in place for each employee, including certificates of age exception (CF4140 or CF384), certificates of election (CA4139 or CF383) and NI deferment certificates (CA2700)
Complete and submit all PAYE & NIC documentation including forms P45, P46, P38s and P46car
Calculation of employee and employer pension contributions. Maintain detailed records and deal with any administration required by the pension provider
Process automatic transfer of Salaries, PAYE, Pensions by BACS
Maintain employee records in payroll files and on Excel
Deal with client queries
Deal with all HM Revenue & Customs enquiries
Production, reconciliation and submission of end of year form P35, together with P14 and P60 forms, meeting the Revenue deadlines
Communicate with UHY directors, managers and staff at all times
Keep up to date with legislation changes

An ability to work quickly and accurately
An eye for detail
An ability to work to deadlines
An ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
Good computer skills (especially with databases and financial software)
An ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, in English
Must be able to keep client matters strictly confidential
Prior use of Star Professional Payroll, Teamspirit, ETZ or Tempaid would be an advantage

Work Pattern: 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday.

We expect our staff to commit as much time as is necessary in order to fulfil their duties and this expectation is reflected in our salary structure. Overtime is paid only at the discretion of Directors/Managers and needs prior approval. You may, however, from time to time be asked to work overtime and if you choose to do so, you will have the choice of either being paid (at standard rate) or taking time in lieu. We do not envisage overtime being a regular part of your job.
