Our client, A Cambridge College, has a vacancy for an Assistant Financial Bursar to support their Bursar in all aspects of financial management, planning, reporting and analysis of their college's financial affairs.
Assistant Financial Bursar
Location: Cambridge
Salary: Circa £60,000 - £70,000 p.a. depending on experience.
The Assistant Financial Bursar will be responsible for the development and maintenance of all necessary financial systems and processes to ensure the efficient and effective management of this college's finances and compliance with statutory requirements. The Assistant Financial Bursar will provide leadership to staff within the Finance Office and will take overall responsibility for procurement within the college.
In addition, the Assistant Financial Bursar will take responsibility for the day to day cash management of the investment portfolio and liaising with college advisers, in support of the Bursar who carries overall responsibility. As well as monitoring expenditure against budgets for all college departments and advising managers of any significant variances the Assistant Financial Bursar will be responsible for the preparation of year-end accounting and taxation reports to ensure that the college complies with legal and business requirements.
All applicants must already be a qualified accountant (a part qualified accountant would be considered if they had the relevant experience) and be educated to degree level or equivalent. You will be a Member of a Professional Accountancy Body and will have at least five experience in a management role. You will have experience of statutory reporting, VAT, payroll and pensions and experience of analysing public sector of Charity financial data.
