Deputy Manager - Service Lead Older People - £33,735

Based in Keynsham, Bristol

As Service Lead to Older People you'll deliver high quality, evidence based clinical and holistic care, incorporating meaningful activities for people living with dementia. You'll have a sound understanding of the care needs of older people and maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practice and developments within nursing and dementia care. You'll also assist the Care Home Manager in regularly reviewing systems. This will range from monitoring residents' satisfaction levels and staffing to health and safety and budgetary procedures. Using your knowledge of health and social work legislation you'll run regular audits to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act, CQC outcomes and other relevant regulations.

Other duties will include the effective deployment of staff to meet the changing needs of the service and conducting resident care assessments. You'll also oversee the assessment of prospective residents' needs under the direction of the Care Home Manager and produce appropriate care plans and risk assessments. You'll work clinically for a minimum of 2 days a week and 2 days at the weekend (working a minimum of 1 weekend in every 4). On call responsibility will be required during the working weekend and you'll deputise for the Care Home Manager in their absence.

What we're looking for

For this role you should be a Registered Nurse with an active NMC Pin Number and qualified in working with older people. Knowledge and understanding of the care needs of older and disabled people is essential. You will also have experience in people management, including best practice in recruitment as well as a knowledge of CQC standards and outcomes in relation to caring for older people and those with dementia.

Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills are a must for this role and a sound knowledge of Health and Social Work legislation is crucial. Other important skills and experience include maintaining quality assurance systems, conducting service reviews and writing reports. Previous experience assessing the care needs of potential residents and a management or supervisory role within a care home would be advantageous.
