Job purpose:
This new role has come into being as the result of a complete restructuring of the Operations Function, aimed at improving overall performance in line with the strategic objectives of the wider group. You will report directly to the Operations Director and will have 15 direct reports and a further 250 indirect reports. You will be crucial in securing the success of the new structure and will require strong interpersonal skills, particularly with regard to inspiring and motivating an established team.

You will also be required to liaise with customer representatives on site on a weekly basis so strong CRM skills will also be of the utmost importance. You will receive the full support of the Operations Director and wider Senior Leadership Team in accomplishing their objectives and significant investment from the Group is being made to improve the hangar facilities, tooling and environment over the coming years.

•Contribute to the Operations function strategy development and implementation.
•Responsible for all military on-aircraft base maintenance, repair, overhaul and upgrades.
•Liaise closely with Military Aerospace Business Unit to understand demands and ensure resources (including Hangars, Equipment, Tooling, and Labour) are aligned to delivery demands effectively and efficiently.
•Ensure Military Base Maintenance Operations performs in accordance with defined On-time Delivery, Quality, Cost, and Safety objectives.
•Take ownership of aircraft schedules and proactively manage resources in order to maintain adherence to schedules.
•Manage assigned Military Base Maintenance Hangars workplace organisation and husbandry.
•Leadership of Military Base Maintenance Operations Safety, Health and Environment (SHE).
•Management of Operations technical documents and records in accordance with applicable regulation, standards and contractual requirements.
•Lead, manage and develop teams, including:
-Ensuring resource is matched to demand through recruitment etc.
-Establishing objectives
-Individual performance development and training needs, e.g. PDR's
-Coaching, mentoring and training
-Leadership for assigned on-aircraft personnel, including staff supervision, attendance / absence management, etc.
•Establish budgets and forecast for assigned cost centre(s) and manage costs accordingly.
•Provide leadership and actively participate in business improvement activities aimed at improving performance in line with strategic objectives.
•Adhere to all company policies, processes and procedures.

•Previous experience in an MRO environment, preferably, but not essential Military.
•A relevant engineering degree or an aircraft maintenance technician qualification with additional education acceptable to the competent authority.
•Extensive leadership and management experience.
•Full working knowledge of MAA MAOS, and other applicable military aviation regulations.
•Full working knowledge of safety management systems (e.g. OHSAS 18001) and ideally holds a recognised safety management qualification e.g. IOSH.
•Proven change management and continuous improvement experience, ideally with a recognised Lean or Six Sigma qualification.
•Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective communication with employees, customers, all levels of management and other departments
•Significant gravitas and the ability to lead, motivate and inspire.
•Sensitivity and robustness to handle challenging personnel issues
•Presentation skills necessary to effectively communicate, update, persuade, and/or facilitate discussions with customers and all levels of management.
•This individual must be willing to commit to the role for the longer term.
