Cambridge University Press has a unique opportunity available for a Buyer (Procurement) to join the team. The role is a full time, permanent position offering a salary of circa £25,000 per annum.

We are looking to appoint an ambitious and motivated person to join our high performing Procurement team. You will be part of a fast paced, dynamic, flexible and expanding Procurement function and have the opportunity to develop your skills and experiences right across the Press business, both domestically and globally.
We are looking for a candidate/person who is every bit as passionate about procurement as we are and wants to seize the opportunity to become one of our future Procurement leaders.
What are the responsibilities of the Buyer (Procurement)?
The role will require you to work with and manage a variety of supplier relationships and commercial agreements. The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop both internal and external relationships to make a real impact to the business.
Challenges/Activities
- Meeting individual and Team savings targets
- Working with existing suppliers and carrying out relationship management
- Negotiating contracts/agreements
- Sourcing new suppliers
- Issuing RFP’s and RFI’s
- Reviewing vendor creation/spend patterns
- Monitoring market changes/market pricing and trends
- To promote the function and ensure that the Global Procurement Policy is understood and followed.
What do we look for in a Buyer (Procurement)?
Previous experience of working within procurement or a buying department, would be an advantage, but not essential, however if you are self-motivated, like a diverse range of projects, working with key stakeholders across many business functions, this role is for you.
You will be confident, a good communicator, organised, methodical, analytical, and keen to have a career in Procurement.
An interest in studying towards CIPS qualification would be great.
