Reporting to the Head of Technical, the Food Technology Lead will be responsible for providing their technical know-how to the business to ensure the highest level of product quality, safety requirements and customer expectations are met.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design, develop, test and implement quality assurance processes from scratch.
  • Implement preventative defect processes.
  • Own and deliver against quality operational KPI’s
  • Quality Manager deputy, manage a small team of Quality checkers, being responsible for the professional development
  • Ensuring compliance to latest food regulations and company standards.
  • Raw Material Specifications and Supplier Approval database management.
  • Responsible of Technical documentation of Raw Materials used in Goods-In & Operations.
  • Validation of new product and processes on HF site.
  • Holding quality control panels, writing and implementing suitable QC procedures.
  • Communicating any changes to internal and external teams whilst guaranteeing availability of all product information.
  • Investigating customer complaints and identifying the root cause of product related problems.
  • Compiling and managing customer specifications as well as monitoring and updating internal systems and technical documentation.
  • Attending new product trials at suppliers and visiting supplier as part of supplier approval process
  • Build and sustain close relationships with suppliers and ensure they maintain the highest quality products and factory standards
  • Carrying out supplier and system risk assessment (i.e. HACCP, allergen, organic, provenance)
  • Creating Hello Fresh Code of Practices to incorporate food safety best practice into product handling processes for receipt, storage, packing and transportation and for suppliers to develop and implement procedures ensure all ingredients’ quality, shelf life, microbiological level and legitimacy is maintained throughout HF supply chain.
  • Creating Guidelines of Recipe Creation to ensure all information on recipe card is legitimate.
  • Ensuring all Quality / Technical Policies and Procedures in practice by HF is in line with current legislation.
  • Responsible of Technical documentation of Raw Materials used in Goods-In & Operations.

About You:

  • Master's Degree in food technology related subject or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Nutrition or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years experience working in quality control or technology - ideally within the food & drinks sector
  • International experience working in the food industry - ideally high quality knowledge of the American, English and Australian markets
  • Extensive practical experience and expert knowledge in the field of food packaging and packaging technologies
  • Knowledge of up to date legislation regarding the labelling and packaging of food products
  • Good quality experience of internal and external auditing
  • Previous experience in an eCommerce business
  • On the ground operations experience preferably in a high growth company
  • HACCP for Plan, Development and Implementation
  • Familiarity with SPC
  • Strong knowledge of SAP, iWork suite, Adobe suite, Logic8, ARENA Simulation Software & ESHA Genesis R&D
  • Awareness of nutrition, food tolerance, allergens and microbiology
  • Energy, enthusiasm and great communication skills
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard office hours when required, and to travel if required
