Home-Start Fundraising and Development Officer (P/T 14 hours/week)

Responsible For       Marketing and Fundraising for Home-Start Guildford

Main Purpose of the job

To raise the profile of, raise funds and ensure a good supply of potential volunteers for Home-Start Guildford through a carefully selected mix of high-profile events, local activities and building relationships with potential individual donors.

Main Responsibilities

Marketing/PR

In consultation with the Scheme Manager and the Board of Trustees, who meet bi-monthly, to develop and implement a marketing plan, encompassing a range of highly focused activities, that will drive higher visibility, increase interest and help to attract potential volunteers.

To create effective communications about the charity and forthcoming events via social media, email, mailings, websites, press releases to the local media.

To design and prepare marketing literature and produce support materials, such as newsletters.

Fundraising

In consultation with the Scheme Manager and the Board of Trustees, to develop a programme of fundraising activities to ensure that the charity maintains sufficient resources to continue its work.

To build and maintain profitable, long-term fundraising relationships with donors and potential donors via updates and newsletters.

Together with the Scheme Manager to research potential trusts and support applications to selected grant-making organisations.

To organize a small number of events which will have a significant impact on profile and/or fundraising.

To prepare reports for both donors and funders.

To monitor income and expenditure against the budget allocated and the target that has been determined.

Working in Partnership

Liaising with funders & local press

Networking appropriately within the community

Scheme Manager and a team of co-ordinators, who focus on recruiting, training and supporting volunteers

Trustees and Patrons

Friends Fundraising Group

Home-Start nationally and regionally

Local media and funding bodies.

Managing the Wider Context

Promoting the scheme its profile, ethos and practice

Contributing to the development of Home-Start locally and regionally

The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post as detailed above.

Any substantial or major changes will be negotiated.
