We have an opportunity for a Civil Design Engineer to join our clients expanding design team based in Bristol and contributing to a high-profile and major project in the SW.

The position would suit an Engineer from a design background (as a guidance of 4-10 years experience) and looking to further their career in a role encompassing training of others, technical interaction with a number of different people, departments and sections and a willingness to travel both in the UK and in France when required.

Duties & Responsibilities include:

• Designs, develops, tests, implements and monitors Engineering and process solutions to demonstrate compliance with UK requirements.
• You will be assigned to one or more system or equipment to be installed and activity is to be coordinated.
• Within your subject areas the team members are responsible for developing the material necessary to implement solutions within the Responsible Designer (RD). They will utilise appropriate reference material and coordinate with the appropriate personnel in the RD to develop and implement a solution for each topic.
• Support to implementation of specific training for key topic areas (~30 days/year).
• As well as developing guidance and training to support the embedding of activities the team also provides direct input to project deliverables where appropriate. Examples of this include categorisation of modifications and CDM reviews. In this role the team interfaces across the RD with the different engineering sections responsible for production of the design deliverables.
• The team members have the capability to cover each other as required within the limits of their knowledge and expertise.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Some experience of Process, Mechanical or Civil Engineering on a large complex project would be an advantage.
• Experience working and interfacing with different groups, customers, regulators etc within a multi dimensional project.
• Equivalent relevant experience in other safety critical, highly regulated industries may also be appropriate.
• Excellent communications skills are paramount for this role, with the ability to identify situations where it is applicable to challenge.
* Any experience in the nuclear industry would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
* Any ability in French language would be highly advantageous but is not essential
