The School

Gordano School is a very large and highly successful 11-19 Comprehensive serving Portishead and Portbury in North Somerset. An Academy since 2011, Gordano was instrumental in setting up the Lighthouse Schools Partnership (Multi Academy Trust) in 2016.

The Role

We are seeking to appoint an energetic and expert professional as Business Manager, to provide the strategic and operational leadership and management of the School's core business services, a role which involves being a key member of the School Leadership Team.  The grade is equivalent to that of an Assistant Headteacher.

The Business Manager is responsible for the strategic development of all business, financial, administrative, operational and facilities aspects of the school and will play a pivotal role in ensuring that Gordano School continues to provide an excellent education to its students.

Gordano School is a member of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership.  Some areas of operation are now delivered in alignment with the other schools in the trust. This area of work is still evolving and the person appointed will need to show flexibility in adapting to new circumstances.

The successful candidate will have:

  • a proven track record in leadership;
  • significant experience in budget management and be able to provide financial information to others;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills;
  • Experience in line management of teams.
