The Assistant Editor will play an important role in contributing to their digital output - principally for their website - by helping to source and write the latest news stories in the global food and beverage industry. Working alongside the News Editor and Digital Features Editor, there will be scope in the future for the successful candidate to be involved in recording and producing interviews and podcasts, developing their own feature ideas, attending press trips and being involved with their flagship print title magazine.

Candidates to this position will be asked to complete a short writing task before being invited to interview.

Key Responsibilities:
- Write and edit news stories and features based on incoming material, mainly for their website
- Play an active role in creating digital content, which may include conceiving and commissioning feature ideas, editing press releases, writing features, contributing to newsletters, making podcasts, interviewing food and beverage industry stakeholders at trade events, and compiling product galleries for both of their social media channels
- Help track and research news stories, and manage relationships with contributors and content providers including PR agencies
- Ensure the website is up-to-date and maintained at all times
- Provide general editorial support and cover as required

Attributes:
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Experience in trade (B2B) publishing or copywriting
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong understanding of SEO best practice and social media
- Working knowledge of Wordpress and Adobe Photoshop
- Additional experience in video/audio production a usable bonus
- Good communication and organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise your workload effectively and work independently when necessary

The Conditions:

- Permanent, full-time position
- Hours 37.5 per week
- The notice period will be one month on either side (following a successful completion of a 6-month probationary period)
