About us

At Bath Spa University we work with one clear vision: to be a leading university in creativity, culture and enterprise. As the fifth largest employer in Bath and North East Somerset, we're really bringing our local talent out on a global scale and with ever growing student numbers, our estate is rapidly expanding. Transforming the lives of our socially engaged global students starts with making sure that our people, people like you, are engaged, empowered and feel valued for the hard work they do.

The Estates Department is responsible for the operation, maintenance, refurbishment and procurement of buildings across our many sites. We have a strong drive towards sustainability, with energy efficiency and carbon reduction at its heart.

About the role

This exciting new post at Bath Spa University will play a key role in helping to drive energy and water efficiency across the Estate, in our on-going carbon-reduction programme. Through a tailored development process, the successful candidate will become responsible for the design, maintenance and continual development of our extensive AMR system to provide reliable data to support energy and water efficiency decision-making. As you develop, you will work closely with the Sustainability Manager, the wider Estates team and external contractors in the design, implementation and monitoring of energy and water efficiency projects, underpinned by detailed energy analysis. Over time, you will also become responsible for monitoring energy conservation measures against the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) and for developing an ISO50001-compliant energy management system. As your competencies develop, the role will become eligible for re-grading, potentially offering continued salary progression. We expect this to take in the order of three years.

About you (requirements)

You will have an analytical mind, be keen to develop into the role and will be passionate about energy efficiency. You will be educated to at least degree-level in a relevant subject area and ideally will have undertaken energy management/monitoring and targeting CPD in a similar role. Ideally, you will have an understanding of metering infrastructure, communications and/or BEMS operation.
