We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Clinical Waste Depot Plant Manager with excellent management and team leadership skills.

Working as the Clinical Waste Depot Plant Manager you will be part of the Operations Team and will ensure the safe long term operation of the plant at a sustained high utilisation. Achieving this will need effective use of resources and staff on a day-to-day and hour-to-hour basis based on demand and availability of the plant.

As the Clinical Waste Depot Plant Manager you will manage the day-to-day plant operations in accordance with licence obligations and Health and Safety procedures, including KPI targets and business objectives. You will also oversee the management of site personnel.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as the Clinical Waste Depot Plant Manager:

  • Day-to-Day supervisory management of site personnel including the onsite Team Leaders and Maintenance Technician
  • Provide out of hours assistance to the site via phone, site visits and utilisation of the Maintenance Technician
  • Co-ordination of PPE onsite to all personnel
  • Maintain continuity of operations in line with license and H&S requirements and onsite PPC permit including liaison with the Environment Agency
  • Manage and prioritise operational spending in line with budgets
  • Liaison with customers and regulators as required at site and off-site
  • Manage Plant administration in conjunction with admin personnel on site
  • Assist with recruitment and discipline of staff
  • Support staff training and organise where necessary along with management of records for all staff
  • Organise staff Occupational Health Checks and monitor
  • Organise the maintenance in conjunction with the General Manager, Plant Technicians, Team Leaders and Head of Engineering
  • Organise and supervise external contractors on site at all times
  • Prioritise operations on site
  • Organise and record statutory calibrations
  • Report all accidents in a timely manner, Investigate and manage incident reporting in line with the Company procedures
  • Maximise utilisation especially during planned and unplanned maintenance
  • Support safety representatives on site as necessary
  • Plan and implement plant improvements in conjunction with the General Manager
  • Authorised signatory for the business within authorised limits
  • Compile and authorise Risk Assessments
  • Monitor use of consumables and spares
  • To respond to call outs in a timely manner
  • Assist on other group sites when requested
  • Some UK travel to other sites may be required

IDEAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Good management and team leadership skills
  • Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Significant Engineering experience or NVQ (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or higher would be an advantage
  • Commercial Electrical experience and certificated in 17th edition would be an advantage
  • Process Plant experience would be an advantage
  • Good communicator with both team members and customers
  • An understanding of waste related legislation
  • Technical expertise with the capability of undertaking running repairs
  • Ability to manage time and complete multi-tasks in line with timescales
  • Good knowledge of information technology especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Self-motivated, reliable and enthusiastic
  • A team player, able to work effectively under pressure and is looking for a challenge
