THE COMPANY: Our client is a detached Youth Work Project based in the Greater Shantallow Area. They provide young people with opportunities for growth and development; recognizing their value in society. The aim of their project is to provide a series of programmes and interventions that will assist in providing participants with the knowledge, skills and opportunities to make positive changes in their lives and address behaviour that is a cause for concern. They support young people from ages 10 - 24 and are recruiting for a Programme Worker to join them.
THE ROLE: For the role of the Programme Worker you will establish and support the development of individuals, small groups and larger groups of young people in identified areas by liaising with young people directly. Over the duration of the project s/he will build working relationships with young people through on street engagement, the 'Hub', and 1-1 mentoring, so as to encourage participation in activities/programmes designed to act as alternatives to behaviour that has a negative impact on them and their immediate and wider community, whilst providing opportunities and support which will enable them to make positive changes in their lives.

THE CANDIDATE: For the role of Programme Worker you will be focussed, calm and organised. You will have the ability to influence others, be positive and self motivated. You must be able to work on your own initiative and have a flexible approach to your workload with excellent attention to detail and good communication skills. You will need to live within a commutable distance to Greater Shantallow, Londonderry Derry.

- Work alongside current staff in the development and implementation of on-going programmes
- Identify and address youth and community needs and issues
- Meet with young people in their area in an effort to build positive working relationships with them
- Provide 1-1 mentoring and small group work through referrals from relevant agencies
- Facilitate group work sessions with identified young people
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating the project
- Completing all necessary reports and pro-forma's required by the project, and to assist in the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the project
- Any other duties deemed as reasonable in accordance with the aims and objectives of the project

- Hold or currently enrolled/completing a recognised qualification in youth work (e.g. OCN in Youth Work; Certificate in Community Youth Studies)
- Minimum of one year experience working with young people
- Experience or Training in the delivery of Personal Development programmes, 1-1 and small group work with young people
- Willingness to work flexible and unsociable hours
