Department: Operations Department
Salary: GBP20,000 per year for candidates with Full UK Driving Licence, GBP25,000 per year for candidates with HGV Driving Licence.
Hours: 40 hours a week
This company is looking for a Delivery Driver to deal with the movements of the goods of their domestic Road Freight and Distribution Centre, as well as working with the operations department helping their customers arranging, tracing and verifying all the documents for each order and dealing with the warehouse responsibilities that could include cleaning, pick and pack orders and do inventories.
Main duties:
- To drive their vehicles as instructed carrying any Road Freight and Distribution Centre as required by the Company. This could include same day courier collections and deliveries, collection and delivery of pallets from and to the customer's address, sea port, airport or any other location required.
- Loading and unloading goods from any location required by the Company.
- Organising, receiving and dispatching orders from their warehouse.
- Performing general and preventive maintenance of the vehicles of the Company by regular checks and reporting malfunctions or damage to management as soon as possible.
- Clean and keep the vehicle in good condition.
- Complete logs and reports as required from time to time.
- For time to time you will have to drive to Europe.
- As a part of the Operations Department, you will be part of the people who are responsible for the movement of goods within the UK and from/to other countries, ensuring the transit and delivery is made on time. This means that you will liaise regularly with overseas offices, partners or agents.
- You will be responsible for arranging and completing all associated paperwork, which documents the nature of the goods being imported or exported from/to abroad and that they are legal and legitimate.
- Check goods in as they arrive against paperwork to ensure all goods ordered are accounted for.
- The role involves being able to manage deadlines and sometimes difficult situations, therefore an element of negotiation is required in order to be able to meet timescales.
- Organise all shipments with their customers and their customers across the world, ensuring costs and documentation are as scheduled.
- Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints.
- Serve as contact person for all couriers.
- Implement schedule and policy changes in regard to shipping.
- Undertake all aspects of administration in relation to the booking and monitoring of transport.
Additional duties: To attend supervision, training and meetings as and when required.
